Hellebore is known as Christmas rose in Iceland and as we really like Christmas we just have to imprint at least one leaf in silver. The leaf is approx. 45 mm (1.77 inches) long and comes on a 50 cm (19.69 inches) silver chain.
According to folklore, there is a story of a young poor girl, who was a shepherd near Bethlehem on the night of the Savior’s birth. When the wise men brought gifts the young shepherd girl wanted to bring the baby Jesus flowers, but because of the cold no flowers could be found. Then an angel showed up and led her to a snow covered blooming helleborus flower at her feet and whispered to her that the Christmas rose was worth more than gold, frankincense and myrrh as being natural and pure and created by love. With these words in mind, the young woman gave the small child in the manger a bouguet of Christmas roses that she had picked in the snow.
